Action on Disability Access in SRO Hotels: Tuesday, October 12, noon, Cadillac Hotel, 380 Eddy. The elevator keeps breaking down for long periods of time, leaving disabled people and seniors stranded in their rooms. We are calling on Cadillac Management to deliver food and packages to people who are stranded and provide a reduction of rent. Join us! Email Yesi for more details.
SF Access to Paid Time Off Campaign Launch: Tuesday, October 12, noon, City Hall.
SDA will join the California Domestic Workers Coalition in introducing the San Francisco Access to Paid Time Off ordinance. This ordinance would create a portable benefits system that would allow domestic workers to accrue sick time and paid time off from all their different employers. While domestic workers are legally entitled to paid sick leave, they have not been able to access this right. Join us at City Hall! October 2021 SDA General Meeting: Thursday, October 14, 10 am – 12 noon PST. Are you prepared for Emergencies, including Climate Emergencies? We will talk about how to make sure we are all prepared for any emergency and how we can be a part of addressing climate issues. Free Wifi Action: Monday, October 18th, noon.
|Our campaign is ramping up! Join us at noon on Monday October 18th at 6th and Mission as we call on AT&T to create a high-quality, reliable, Free WiFi program at a rally in front of the AT&T Building in San Francisco. Before the action, join us at 11am on Saturday, October 9th, to prepare materials at the SDA office (1360 Mission St). Superfest features more than 20 short films from all over the world. They cover a variety of disability themes and include animated shorts, documentaries, and more. Set aside some time the weekend of October 15-17 to enjoy!
SDU on Social Media Advocacy! November 1 – December 15th.
We are excited to announce our upcoming Senior & Disability University (SDU): Social Media Advocacy! Join us for an introduction to digital safety practices, youtube, facebook, twitter, instagram, public comment, and zoom. We will also learn how to make public comments online, taking civic engagement and storytelling to a digital platform. All sessions will be recorded and uploaded to our Senior & Disability University youtube playlist, for accessible access. Spanish interpretation will be available. Senior & Disability Survival School: October 20 – November 20th, Downtown Senior Center.
You are invited to the in-person Senior and Disability Survival School classes in English and Russian at the Downtown Senior Center, 481 O’Farrell Street! Join us on Wednesdays October 20th, 27th, November 3rd, and 10th at 1-3:30pm for information on COVID-19, medical and mental health services, food, transportation, housing, and self advocacy.
