2012: Planning with Elders in the Central City and Senior Action Network merge to form Senior and Disability Action (SDA).2013: SDA supports the California Domestic Workers Coalition and Hand in Hand to pass the California Domestic Workers Bill of Rights.2014: After passing legislation for grab bars and phone jacks in single room occupancy (SRO) hotels, SDA advocates for San Francisco’s first fund for SRO elevator repair.
2015: Free Muni passes, thanks to a coalition led by Chinatown Community Development Center (CCDC) and SDA, with support from then-President of the SFMTA Board Tom Nolan.
2016: Jobs with Justice, Bay Rising, the Chinese Progressive Association, SDA & other organizations form Bay Resistance, a new coalition to resist Trump-era oppression, reclaim our democracy, and protect healthcare, public education, civil liberties, unions, and environment.
2017: The San Francisco Board of Supervisors establishes and funds Support at Home, a new home care subsidy program for upper-poor people designed by a coalition led by SDA and then-Supervisor Eric Mar’s office.
2018: SDA and partner organizations push the SFMTA to increase street crossing time in San Francisco. SDA also fights for voluntary mental health services rather than forced treatment and lifts up the voices of people with mental health disabilities.
2019: Senior Operating Subsidies are born thanks to work by SDA, the Chinatown CDC, and the office of then-Supervisor Norman Yee.
2020: SDA responds to the COVID pandemic and the disproportionate impact on seniors and disabled people, especially BIPOC, by fighting care rationing, holding nursing homes accountable, and setting up the Cross-Bay Mutual Aid Project.

2022: SDA’s Healthcare Action Team holds three free wheelchair repair clinics, in partnership with City Wheelchairs, and wins city funding for an official program.
